First Rom from Hessen has been deported to Kosovo PDF Print E-mail
Dienstag, 26 Mai 2009
Elvis A. (26 years) from Fuldatal did not guess anything bad, when he came home from work yesterday evening. Around midnight, he was taken out of the circle of his life companion - who has a residence permit and his two young children (1 1/2 years and 3 weeks old) by police officers under the direction of the administrator of the Department for Immigration at the Government Presidency, Mr Willershausen. The next day at noon, he was deported back by plane to Kosovo.

In the wake of the Kosovo war, the at that time 17 year old Elvis A. escaped to Germany in September 1999, together with his parents and siblings. For years, he received, by virtue of law, no training or normal work. He was just tolerated. He was not admitted to the hardship scheme for long-time refugees in Germany, because he had arrived 82 days too late to Germany. One month ago, he received an invitation from the Government Presidency to return to Kosovo on a "voluntary" basis. Referring to his family and social integration, his lawyer requested then a residence permit from him, but instead of an answer he was deported. There was no time for legal intervention. Elvis A. has no family in Kosovo anymore. He does not know, what he should do further there and the mother of his children does not know how she should get along without her partner.

Alex Selbert, Lawyer
Kassel (Germany)
